Licensed Japanese Manga Publishing in Hong Kong

Through our subsidiary Citicomics Limited, Culturecom is one of the earliest and most established official licensed publishers of Japanese manga in Hong Kong.

Since the 1980s, we have secured licensing rights from major Japanese publishers including Shueisha, Kodansha, Shogakukan, and Kadokawa. We were the first company in Hong Kong to publish authorized translations of legendary titles such as Doraemon and Dragon Ball, with Dragon Ball alone selling over 200,000 copies. We also introduced nearly 70% of Osamu Tezuka’s works — hailed as the “God of Manga” — including Astro Boy, Phoenix, Black Jack, and Princess Knight.

We further pioneered the market by publishing EX-am, Hong Kong’s first weekly shōnen manga magazine licensed from Shueisha, which achieved weekly sales of over 100,000 copies and serialized major hits such as Dragon Ball Z, Captain Tsubasa, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Hunter × Hunter, Bleach, Death Note, and Bakuman.

Today, Citicomics continues to bring high-quality contemporary Japanese manga to Hong Kong readers. We have published multiple works by acclaimed creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, including Look Back and Goodbye, Eri, alongside popular titles such as One-Punch Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, Dragon Ball Super, and Ultraman.

We take pride in our long-standing role as a bridge between Japanese manga and Hong Kong audiences, delivering officially licensed works that have shaped generations of readers.
